It's been almost a year since I've updated this thing. Looks like I have a lot of goals to catch up on. We've had a lot happen this past year. Maybe I should post a blog about that stuff...

101 Goals in 1001 Days

Start Date: 1 June 2010

End Date: 25 February 2013

I got this idea for 101 in 1001 from a friend. I tried really hard to apply it to me and to make it my own. Lots of scribbling and re-writing went into it. I hope I didn't skip any numbers or duplicate anything. Ultimately my goals are to: increase my spirituality, strengthen my marriage, become a better mother, be more prepared/ organized and become a better person through personal growth (health, hobbies, knowledge, and service). I'm going to try to work on at least 3 goals at a time. As soon as I finish one I will pick another one up. I'll have to admit, some of these may sound silly and easy but some of them I am really going to have a hard time with. I'll blog each time things are crossed off my list. Wish me luck!

Increase my Spirituality:

1. Read The Book of Mormon cover to cover

2. Read The Doctrine and Covenants cover to cover

3. Go to the temple with RS weekly (as permitted) for 4 months

4. Testify everyday for 2 weeks

5. Have a heartfelt monthly fast for 6 months

6. Have more meaningful personal prayer daily for one month

7. Read the Relief Society Lesson in advance for 1 month straight

Strengthen my Marriage

8. Attend temple with Kevin regularly 1 year

9. Go on a trip alone with Kevin

10. Eliminate all criticism for 30 days

11. Dress up really fancy and go out with Kevin

12. Go on at least 2 dates per month for 4 months straight

Become a Better Mother

13. Enroll Oliver in a "mommy and me" swim class

14. Take the boys on an evening walk at least once a week June thru September (as weather permits)

15. Teach boys 100 ASL signs

16. Start doing FHE weekly and do it for 2 months straight

17. Potty Train Oliver

18. Enroll Keegan in a karate class

19. Serve a vegetable or fruit every night with dinner

20. Do crafts w/ Keegan twice a month

21. Enroll Oliver in at least 3 different types of classes (tumbling, music, art, drums, dance, etc)

I've been home for a week and half now. I finally found my mp3 charger and phone charger. I read some more of my book. I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. Garbage's still need to be taken out. I'm behind on dirty laundry. I folded and put away a ton of clean laundry though. Tomorrow, it's putting clothes on hangers. I could tell how many loads I folded by how many dryer sheets I had tossed on the floor. I cleaned out my top junk drawer and found a bunch change. I dropped a hammer on my foot. I also bought a rice cooker. Oliver turns 2 tomorrow. Keegan loves that Oliver is talking more now. He repeats just about everything Keeg tells him to. Tonight after Keegan went to bed I sat Oliver down on his bed to give him "loves" and he just laid there. Today was a good day. Tomorrow- no nap and lots to do. For example: the dinner dishes, a cake, and Ollie's birthday party.

I love the Super Nintendo. I remember having it when I was little. I also took at week off of beauty school just to play it. I played it with my husband for a bit last night and played with it for about an 1 1/2 all together.
Today I played it with Keegan. I loved watching him play. Kinda reminded me of myself 20+ years ago when I first played it. The moving of the arms when you want your character to go somewhere or do something. And all the sounds we would make. Keeg's is "hut, hut, hut. Hut, hut, hut". I loved playing with him today

i went by last night just to drop off a card from parents for him. His friend was there and both of them were so welcoming and kept inviting me to stay longer and visit. His friend was so sweet and friendly. Nice change from the bimbos my other brothers have picked out. I stayed longer than I had planned and enjoyed every minute of it. Chad is great. He's very giving. He's thoughtful in the things he gives away and presents he buys for people. He's probably the funniest person I've ever met.

we went to the willoughby's house out past woodburn. it was kinda slow moving at first but as the afternoon went on it got more exciting. there was was so much food. we ate all day. the wii was fun. I played keeg in bowling and he kept getting double strikes! Oh my gosh I can't believe how well he was doing. He didn't put it around his wrist when he was playing with his daddy. he went to swing his "tennis raquet" and he flew out of his haned and landed in the back corner behind a christmas tree.
Kev played aunt millies millions while i watched the kids.
I played exiliar (from carrie and joe) and he watched the kids. my game took over 2 hours. i stunk at it but it was still fun.

opened kev's gift to me at midnight. he was so excited about giving it to me that he could hardly stand it! It was great. He got me my own mp3 player.
this morning i started ripping CD's onto the computer and then syncing them onto my device.
When keeg woke up he came in my room and we played "i'm coming to mommy's birthday party and I'm beinging with me..." toys, blocks (ask kev what else got said)
Christine is taking me out for lunch and to see New Moon again.
I came home and Kev and the boys had made me a confetti birthday cake. I ate then took a nap. I was so tired. when i woke up around 6 or so keeg was already in bed and had just fallen asleep. kev asked if i wanted to have some friends over for games so his sister meg and my friend cara came over. we played ticked to ride and kev beat me by 3 points and only b/c he got 10 extra points for the longest road.
As soon as we were done picking up the game, Keegan woke up and came down stairs. We decided we were hungry and went to Arby's. After we were done eating and Meg left, we tried to put the boys down again but all they did was talk to each other.

Ward Christmas Party

I went to sit down at a table and some girl said it was taken even though nothing was on it saving it's place. I got so upset and started crying b/c I talked Kev into being at the church 45 minutes early so we would have a good seat up next to the stage. Keeg performed his solo that night "All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teethe". I got really upset and just started bad mouthing her and the situation. She wasn't even in our ward. Kev told me to take a break so I went into the mother's lounge and cried my eyes out for about 5 minutes. Said a prayer. Composed myself, let me face "set" again so I could put make-up on then tried to come up with ways to serve her (them). And I did! I was helping a few other fill glasses with water and then refilling their pitchers. I was so happy to do it. And the girl was so nice and friendly. I can be kind of a jerk to begin with but I've been kinda a wreck lately. I was thankful my loving Heavenly Father took all the hatred and anger out of me that night. Keegan did so well on his solo- despite the interupptions. I was sitting on the floor with the other kids so I was closer to him and he held his microphone too close to his mouth and first so it was very loud and screechy and the kids were covering their ears and screaming. Shortly after that a little girl from his Sunday School class hopped up on stage. We didn't see that one coming. That threw him off but he did so well and I was so proud of him! Kevin participated in singing with the choir. I love that he was able to do it and that he enjoyed himself. I loved the Spirit that was felt and the Joy of the Christmas Season that they brought with them.

I don't even know where to start with this. Kev has been out of work for almost 9 months now. I have some babysitting jobs and an office that I clean so we are able to pay our own bills. We do okay but I really wish the job market was better. I look forward to the day when we're financially stable again. When I can go to a store for something that I need or want regardless of the price. He's been looking so hard. Whenever someone has interest in him we get so excited. Maybe a little too excited because it seems to jinx us. It's been good for him to have a side job here and there for artwork that people need done. He has a few more projects in the works. One of them is making reel for a joke.

Pretty Girls

I get so irritated when people write messages for the world to see and they start out by saying "pretty" or "beautiful". So what, everyone else is ugly? Usually it's the girls that already know that. What about the rest (of us)? I think pretty and beautiful and amazing are words everyone needs to hear. Not just the girls that already know it.

Yesterday, Keegan and I put on our rain boots, packed our umbrellas and our notepads and stamps and headed off to Jenkin's Estate! There was no one there at the park. Tons of construction workers though. We went with 5 different letterboxing clues. 4 of them by the same person. These clues weren't hard but they really make you think! We were out there for about and hour and half (I think). It was a little muddy walking on the lawn for the first one but the rest of it was nice. No more mud, no puddles. It didn't even rain!
Okay, I know this is going to sound stupid or even crazy but the thought of "wouldn't it be cool and scary if I ran into Laurent here?". Perfect spot. Surrounded by trees and wildlife. It was overcast. No one would come looking for us right away. No one would hear me. I kept thinking what a beautiful grove. Good thing Stephanie killed him off! Guess I don't have to worry about him coming after us!
It was nice spending one on one time with just Keegan. I know I tell him often and everyday that I love him but I fear that I don't show it enough. It's something special him and I can do together.

This was our first clue. It was great and exciting once we found it! Better than finding that $100 geocash that's stashed somewhere.
Clue 1- From the Stable House, go around to the back side and walk on the lawn. Find a homemade bench made from a split log. Proceed 5 more paces to a pile of rocks on the left. Find a mossy rock toward the top of the pile to find the first box.

We attemped at clues numer 2 and 3 but I got frustrated so we moved onto 4

Clue 4- Continue down the trail and keep your eye out for the parking lot in the distance. Another trail appears to the left. Steps made of 4x4 beams provide stability for unsteady hikers. Continue down this trail to the little 3-way bridge. Find the part of the bridge directly below a bench. Reach under the right side of the boards to find the final box.

After we found #4, I saw the steep stairs that clue #3 was talking about and thought maybe I could just go up those stairs and do like a backwards/ reverse thing but we ran out of time.

This morning I got up for 2 hours with the kids then kicked my dear husband out of bed so I could rest again. He kicked me out of bed 2 hours later so he could take a shower and get going to tournament with his brother. After he left, I showered and started lunch. I woke Ollie up from his nap and we all ate. When we were done, the boys were playing while I was getting bags together to take with us when we went out today.
Keegan had a birthday party to go to at 2 and we wanted to go to the library before that and to Jenkin's Estate for letterboxing (so we could tell Rylan that we've done it before giving him his own little starter kit for it). But...
As I was going around the house gathering our things, Ollie hit his head on a door hinge and got a huge gash. I called my mother in law to come look. I wasn't sure if I should take him in for stitches or what. She put a band-aid on it then left.
When we finally got out the door, we went to Jenkin's Estate for some Letterboxing clues that were there. We were running late for the party by then also. Anyways. I hurt my ankle again and we're trotting through mud and finally got to where we were suppose to be. Then Keegan is like "I have to go potty...I have to go poopies too.

Being on bed rest- I was on bed rest for about a month. Maybe a little more for my Sciatic Nerve. I sat down to go through some stuff and over stretched or turned wrong or something and I couldn't move. I was in pain for a whole week before I finally went to the ER. We weren't purposely going to the ER. We were going to go to an Urgent Care but it took me close to 2 hours to get out of bed because I hurt so bad, and any which way I tried to roll I couldn't get up off my bed. My in-laws had my children for the evening. At the ER they didn't do any tests or samples of anything. They gave me drugs, let me rest for a little bit, then sent me on my way. They didn't even give me strong enough meds to knock out all the pain. And I was out of stuff to take in less than two weeks! So, 2 weeks later we went to an Urgent Care. This is when I was told by a doctor that is was my Sciatic Nerve. My mother in law and a few friends were telling me even before that that's what it was. I had never heard of it before. I was pretty ticked at how I was "taken care of" in the ER. I was going to ask for a cortisone shot, but I kept forgetting. They gave me more meds and it lasted for (I think) about 2 weeks or a little bit more.

Not making the most of my time. I could have read the whole Book of Mormon in that time. Planned the whole Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts. Finished my "punch" project. Read more. I wasted so much time on the internet, and facebook, and feel like crap and a loser because I wasted so much time on these things. It was so hard to be stuck in bed and I didn't spend my time well. I missed Oliver walking up the stairs all by himself and climbing into his chair on his own. My ward is so wonderful. So many people brought dinner and their "Get Well Wishes" by. I'm seriously surprised I kept up with all the thank-you notes I was in need of writing. Thank-you notes for dinners, flowers, visits, movies, taking my kids for a few hours here and there so Kevin could have some time to himself.

I needed to go grocery shopping yesterday. Let me back up. I don't get to dress up very often. I have some nice pieces and some cute dress shoes but don't really get a chance to wear any of them. I fell in love with some red/tan-orange argyle heels I found a couple of months ago. I just recently bought a top to wear with them but haven't had and opportunity to wear any of it yet. I don't really know how to walk in heels. Never had an older sister to look up to and looking back, I guess I never really cared to learn. So, I go to do my shopping at Winco and I end up with the cart from hell that is so hard to steer and barely moves; I mean I really had to push it. Make wide turns and everything. As soon as I got down that first aisle I knew wearing those heels was a huge mistake. Huge! Shopping took me twice as long (good thing I went by myself or it would have taken me even longer). I finally get done and the girl that is ringing up my groceries turns to me and asks "How are you doing today?". I said "do you really want to know? I don't go out very often so I though I would dress up a little bit for myself. So, I wore these heels that hurt my feet, I couldn't walk in the well at all so my feet kept dragging. Shopping took me twice as long because of it. I felt people here and there staring at me behind my back because they could totally tell I didn't know how to walk in them either. What a day! I'll never do that again, until I learn how to walk in them. Clop, clop, clop.

What's all the hype about a Friday? Doesn't really make a difference to me. Now, when I was 12 it did. It meant Full House, Family Matters, and Step By Step. Also, playing Ghost in the Graveyard, and Hide and Seek. And hiding in the shadows from the police (b/c base housing was constantly patrolled by them) when we were out past curfew.

Old Sophie lives all alone and yearns for someone to talk to. Her wish comes true one day when she hears some birds sing to her. “Nice lady, sweet lady,” they seem to say. Sophie is so delighted that she bakes her most delicious bread for them. But before long, their sweet twitters and tweets turn into greedy squawks and screeches. Soon, Sophie is weary of kneading, weary of baking, and very weary of birds. What to do? What to do? This is the dilema I face: I know how to play with my children at first but then after a while I don't get sick of them, I just don't know What to do? What to do? with them.
How do you play with a 4 year old. Anyone? When they're little it's helping them walk, teaching them words, playing with their tummies and just kinda following them around.
With my 4 year old. I'm great with park days, play dates, teaching him how to write his letters, reading to him, playing games and doing puzzles. When it come to pretend sword fighting, bad guys and Legos, I'm so totally clueless! Keegan asked me if I would play Legos with him earlier today and I said "sure". They were the Mega Legos and he just built a little tower like thing and tried to set it up on the floor. I said "how about you stick it on the wagon (that was made for the mega legos) so they're not directly on the ground when the flood comes"? He looked at me funny and my husband shot me a look like what in the world? What to do? What to do? How in the world do you play with a 4 year old? Please, I can seriously use all the comments and imputs that you have.

6 Year Anniversary

Our Spring will be so busy for the rest of our lives! Oliver's birthday is March 26th. He just turned one year old. Spring break. Our 6 year anniversary is today, the 29th. General Conference is the first weekend in April. Keegan turns 4 on April 10th. Then there's Easter, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day.
One of the great things about the time we got married was it was during Spring break and more people were able to make it out for our wedding, than if we would have had it during an off season. The bad thing is, when we want to go away, it's NOT an off season, so we don't get off season prices. Every year we try to do something different and special.
For our 1 year anniversary we don't really remember the specifics. Kevin cooked dinner and we ate by candle light then watched a movie.
Neither one of us remembers what we did for our 2nd anniversary. We're thinking that we probably just went to the Olive Garden for dinner and possibly a movie afterward.
Our 3 year anniversary we went to the Melting Pot for dinner and walked around Downtown Portland for a bit.
Our 4 year anniversary we left Keegan with my parents and went up to Columbia Gorge Riverside Lodge. We stayed in the Afrika room. We stayed for 2 nights. Ate junk food, played games, talked about our future, hot tubbed, and ate at the Skamania Lodge. The whole weekend was lovely. The scenery was beautiful and it was nice to get out of town for a couple of days. On our way home we stopped at IHOP for breakfast, then went and picked up Keegan. We missed him so much and were anxious to get home to him.
A few days before our 5 year anniversary, we had Oliver. We drove around with both of our boys forever and ever looking for a place to go eat and celebrate a little (best we could having 2 kids with us). Finally we went to Mazatlan and got it to go (we could have went there in the first place like Kevin said, because he knows how much I love that place, but I kept saying, "No, no. Let's go somewhere you want to go too". Yadda, Yadda.
This year for our 6th wedding anniversary, we started out our Friday with lunch at the Olive Garden. That's where I broke the news that I had lost my wedding rings months ago and have no idea where else to look. I keep them in my Temple bag because they have nickle in them and I am allergic to it. So, I keep them in my bag and put them on anyways for special occasions. I was thinking that I took them off and put them back in my little pouch that attaches to the inside of my my bag, but then didn't put my pouch in the bag. Anyways, we went to the lost and found counter in the Temple and they said they donated everything they had before January. I felt horrible. We then parted ways to enter our dressing rooms, and when I came out, he was holding my ring up! We had put it in his bag for whatever reason and had both forgotten. I've been wearing it all weekend and it has not bothered me once yet. Today we went to church and watched Oliver and Company as a family (until I took Oliver upstairs to put him in bed and ended up napping myself). Later after the boys went down, Kevin and I had a nice dinner together and watched Into the Woods. Now, I'm blogging on my laptop with twilight playing from another window that is opened.

I really enjoy dressing them up alike once in a while. Okay, maybe more than I should, I don't know.

Grandma Carol (my mom) sent them these suits as Easter Gifts. They wore them last Sunday.

These dinosaur shirts were the only clean shirts they had with green in them. It was St. Patrick's day.

Keegan Says the DarNdest Things

Keegan says the funniest things some times. He'll be 4 years old in about 3 weeks. It's funny to see how their composition comes into play. I thought I would post some of them with background as to what was going on at the time.

A couple of years ago we went to Blackfoot, ID. My aunt has a trampoline that Keegan and his cousins loved to jump on. Well, we were playing cars together the other day and I made my car go over the top of his and I said "My car totally trampled over yours."

Another incident happened probably close to 3 months ago. I was getting Oliver dressed and Keegan was standing there and said "Is that an elephant?" I said "What? You know what that is. What is that?". He said "No, mommy. Is that an elephant?" I said "No, that's a dog you silly boy." He said, "No, elephant." Only this last time it was lots clearer as to what he was trying to say. "Mommy, is that an outfit?" I know you're thinking that elephant and outfit sound nothing alike, but I'd encourage you to ask a 3 year old to say both of those words for you. It'll take a few times of saying them 'till they sound like 2 different words.

Something else that's been going on. When we catch him doing something he shouldn't be doing and try to ask find out questions as to why he's doing it he'll say "Because I do not want to." And I'll comeback with "Keegan, that doesn't make any sense." Well, we have this rule, (although we haven't enforced it in a while) that he can't watch TV or eat when he gets up in the morning until he goes potty, takes off his "underjam" and puts on underwear. So, I went to enforce it today and he says "Mommy, that doesn't make any sense!"

He's pretty good about putting his shoes on the right feet. What's funny is he only has 2 feet and one shoe for each foot. So, when he asks me "does this shoe go on this foot?" and I tell him "Yes", it's hilarious when he asks "so does this shoe go on this foot?"

You may have heard by now that Kevin lost his job a week ago. That means lots of paper work for numerous things. One of these things means applying for food stamps. Keegan heard the words "food stamps" and said "Oh, I like those food stamps." I said have you had them before?" He said "yeah, they're good!"

He'll be talking on the phone to Grandma or Grandpa and he'll set the phone down and say "watch this!" And he'll jump, or take a picture with his play camera or something.

"I love you Keegan." Daddy would say.
"I love you too."
"I love you Keegan. I love you Keegan".
"Daddy, you're so frustrating me!"
Then, Kevin would do the sign for I love you. And Keegan said "Daddy you make me so mad!"

I got this concoction a couple of years ago when I was working at a daycare center and thought it was pretty neat stuff. It had been a while since I had made it. For some reason I kept thinking the tap water was getting too hot. Boy was I wrong when it (the pink one) turned out lumpy like stringy cheese that would not turn itself into a sauce. The white one, is how it's suppose to look. Smooth. What a horrible picture of me! And my kitchen, it does not look this bad all the time.

Bowl 1
1 1/2 cups warm water (as hot as the tap water will go)
2 cups glue
food coloring
Mix all 3 of these together in bowl 1.

Bowl 2
1 1/3 cups warm water
3 tsp Borax
Mix these together in bowl 2

Pour bowl 2 into bowl 1- Move it around to soak up excess water= Flubber.

30 Years of A Twilight

I turned 30 this past year and wanted to do something special. Something different that I would normally do. Me, mom, my sister, my aunts and cousins, and the vast majority of my friends have all read the Twilight series. Twilight was suppose to come out the week before my birthday and I decide right then that that's how I wanted to spend my 30th. Well, another movie called Harry Potter was suppose to come out that weekend before Thanksgiving. For whatever reason, it's been pushed back until this Summer sometime. So Twilight got moved up a month. So, what did I do? I moved my birthday celebration up a month. It's a good thing I did it too because we were snowed in for around 2 weeks or more during my birthday. I'm just going to lay out my agenda of what and when we did it with a few notes here and there as opposed to completing senteces.

Fandango
I Fandango'd movie tickets for the mid-night showing of Twilight. Confir. # 4837 82214 5019

-Jackie at 6pm for a partial weave and hair style $25.
-Pick up Stephanie from PDX at 7:50pm. Her flight was an hour late. There was an accident 26E bound and WB on my way there and on my way back there was still an accident.
-Mazatlan for dinner at 8:30pm with: Carrie (cousin), Erika, Leah, Bridgette, and Melissa.
-12:05am showing of Twilight at Cedar Hills Crossing. Leah left after dinner and Christy joined us for the movie. We sat 3 rows from the front. We had gotten there a wee-bit late.

Friday
-Pick up Cultural Pass from library @ 10am.
-Chinese Gardens
-Naps
-Stuffed Shells for dinner. They were stuffed with cheese sticks and this dish did not turn out for me at all. Neither did the cookies, or fudge I tried to make.
-Coupon class at Tanya Gold's at 7pm. Sue came too and Mike watched the boys.

Saturday
-Stephanie haircut w/ Anita @ 9am.

-Pot pies for dinner and they didn't cook long enough in the oven.

Me and the boys took Steph to the airport Sunday morning.It was nice to have her here. I wanted this weekend to be a nice vacation for her and feel like I failed miserably with none of my dishes turning out. I had the stuff to make a yummy pasta salad that a land lord we had on our mission use to make for us and totally forgot to make it. Talk about feeling like Amelia Bedilia. I loved that she was able to come and enjoyed having her here.
It was nice doing something totally different from the norm for me. If I would have waited untill my acutal birthday to celebrate with my friends, I would have been so disappointed because we were totally snowed in.

Kevin and I are both got called into scouts in September of last year. A few weeks ago was their blue and gold banquet. The theme was "Games". The center pieces were game boards and game pieces were scattered throughout the buffet table. (It was a taco buffet). It was fun to see all the different cakes that the boys put so much thought into and spent so much time on. Kevin couldn't make it because he had gotten sick the night before and wasn't feeling well.
Last Saturday all of us scout leaders got together for a potluck and games to get to know each other and did not mention the boys. Kev was there, he had to work.
Sunday we had to wear our scout shirts. I wore a 3/4 sleeve black shirt under it and then pulled up my scout shirt and tied it. I got a whistle out of Kev before he told me to take it down. I put it back up though and stayed covered with my coat at church. I only opened my coat to show the other leaders what I had done. There was confusion about what day to wear it to church but I said I'd wear it this Sunday but I won't tell you how (not knowing how I would wear it). The leaders thought it was funny.

Here's how I really feel about the shirt, "Not that bad? Except for the color's wrong, the collar's wrong, the material's a nightmare from hell. He scratches, it's cut badly, it itches, and it's not me. But all of that can be fixed!"

I'm tired and should have taken twice as much Nyquil as I did. My 2 boys are also sick and my hubby was up all night and is now sleeping. I'm having fun watching Oliver eat a chocolate muffin. I taught Keegan this morning "move your feet, lose your seat". Yea, he's 3 he gets it though. It's beautiful out side w/ all the snow. Other than looking at it, I really don't want anything to o with it.

I really feel like it's winter now. Kevin's company party was yesterday morning, I went to my in-laws ward Christmas party that night and now, it's finally snowing. I turn 30 in 2 weeks and am no where near having 2 of my huge goals for the year done. "Shock and surprise" as a friend of mine use to say.
I'm new to blogging. I use to love to write. All the time. Poems. I loved to write poems. Until I get time to actually "get in to it", I'll probably just babble.
Church got canceled today. I wasn't going to make it today anyways. Now, I'm wishing more than ever that I would have hit the grocery store and Redbox yesterday. I want no-bake cookies right now more than anything and don't have any oatmeal.
It's so white and lovely out. I put Keeg in Ollie's crib and snapped a few pictures of them looking out the window together.

I know you're probably thinking "wow, you took 4 days off!". No. I actually went Monday also. I ate so much junk over the holiday weekend that I felt I should put in an extra day. So, I started out with an extra day doing a day of last week's program. Then Tuesday, I went running again. I did a "brisk walk" my first lap. Stretched. Then did 2 miles. It went like this: "Brisk walk". Run 1/2 lap. Walk 1/2 lap. Run 1 lap. Walk 1 lap. Run 1/2 lap. Walk 1/2 lap. Run 1 lap. Walk 1/2 lap. Run 1 lap. I did 8 laps. 8 laps equals two miles. I think I was suppose to do 9 though. I didn't run today but hope to do so tomorrow!

Well, I'm done with week 2. I'm glad I get a 3 day weekend. I ran 1 1/2 miles in just under 20 minutes. Don't mean to toot my own horn but, I'm really proud of myself. I haven't taken this kind of time out for myself in a long while. I've been going through my clothes that don't fit me yet and I can't find my white pants or my jean skirt. That skirt was the bomb. I weighed myself today and took my measurements down. I'll post some pictures here in a couple of weeks. I do hope Stacey and Clint will come see me (What Not To Wear)!

I left for jogging around 7pm. It felt nicer to be out in the evening w/ the sun going down. I did
1 1/4 miles. I had been looking forward the the days run ever since i finished with my run the night before, even though I had forgotten my water. But today, I was looking for it to end. I didn't stretch today, like I should have. In fact, I've only stretched once. I know I should do it before every run. When I started walking toward my car, my left ankle started hurting. Guess that's what I get, huh? Let me tell you: it pays to take some pain reliever before my run. Brought my own music so I wouldn't have to sit through "talk" radio once I was done w/ my run; Matchbox20: Mad Season. I s ho uld probably take my measurements and weight down so I can track my "improvements" more to a "T".

week 2

Today was the first day of my second week or running. I did one warm up lap then stretched for 10 minutes. After that I would jog for 90 seconds, then walk for 2 minutes. I did that for 3/4 of a mile. After that my time was up but I wanted to keep going so I took a slightly longer walk then jogged the rest of the way. when I got to my car, I noticed that my bottle of water that I filled before i left the house was not in the cup holder. I had left it on the counter. Suck! I sat there with the A/C on high flipping through the radio channels. Not a dang thing on. So i listened to crap and wrote in my journal.

Running

I just started a running program this week. I've really enjoyed it. A gal from church told me to do a Google search on "couch potato to 5k". I looked it over and it seemed like a simple enough plan to stick with. I put it off for close to 2 weeks in hope that I could find someone to run with me. No takers yet, so I decided to get started on my own.

My dad was a runner. A tri-athlete actually. He's participated in numerous marathons and such over the past 30 some odd years.
He was a chunky, that one was. Back when he was young. When in trouble, the teacher would ask him if he wanted a whip or to run laps. He chose laps.

I'm choosing laps now. I enjoy my runs and look forward them every other day. For this first week, I had to do a brisk 5 minute walk (one lap around the track. 1/4 mile). Then, I'd jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90. Jog for 60 and walk for 90. After 20 minutes, I was done. I felt so good that, that i decided to do another lap. So, i jogged the whole thing.

I keep a running log/ journal. I leave it in the car and write in it after my runs. I look forward to getting a fabulous in-shape bod here in the next couple of months. I'll feel even more terrific once all my clothes fit! I'll do my best to keep this blog going.
